Player is being accused of violating the law after promoting gambling platform
Neymar is involved in yet another legal scandal. This time, the Brazilian national team star ended up getting the worst of it after linking his name to a large gambling company: Blaze. According to columnist Fábia Oliveira, from the Metrópoles portal, the author of the case accuses the player of violating the law and carrying out misleading advertising.
The plaintiff in the lawsuit is William David Singer. In the action, the man attached several pieces of evidence that Neymar was the platform’s poster boy between 2022 and 2023, in addition to attaching several other complaints from the “Reclame Aqui” website, from people who felt financially harmed by the betting giant. He also cited three lawsuits from people who say they were injured by the games.
According to William, Neymar should have known about the negative effects involving the gaming platform before publicizing it widely on his social networks, which have millions of followers. The man even quoted Stan Lee’s famous phrase, reiterating the player’s lack of responsibility: “with great power comes great responsibility”.
The author demands a position from the Public Ministry and wants Neymar to be indicted for false advertising activity. “The objective is that, with the initiation of a police investigation, the player is condemned for the practice of promoting misleading advertising,” stated Fábia Oliveira’s column. If the practice is proven, the player could be sentenced to three months to one year in prison.
