Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero) Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or familiarly called Ahok explained that the use of Ron 88 type of fuel oil or premium gasoline will no longer exist next year or 2022.
But unfortunately, to CNBC Indonesia, Ahok was reluctant to explain in detail when the time was right to remove the less environmentally friendly gasoline.
So it is not yet known, if premium is removed, whether the premium gasoline subsidy will shift to Ron 90 or Pertalite gasoline. “It depends on the government (subsidy). The point is that Pertalite is next year,” Ahok told CNBC Indonesia, Monday (12/27/2021).
Previously, Director of Downstream Oil and Gas Business Development Soerjaningsih revealed that the government is currently preparing an environmentally friendly fuel roadmap, in which Pertalite will also be replaced with better quality fuel.
“With road map In this case, there is a timetable in which later we will use environmentally friendly fuel. There was a time when Pertalite had to dry, should shifting from Pertalite to Pertamax,” he said through an official broadcast, as quoted on Thursday (12/23/2021).
Meanwhile, Economist at the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (Indef), Abra PG Talattov, said that currently selling Pertalite, said Abra as a non-subsidized fuel, the price was also intervened by the government.
“I heard from Pertamina and ESDM, the price of Pertalite being sold at this time is still below the economy, meaning selling at a loss,” explained Abra to CNBC Indonesia, Friday (12/24/2021).
This means that with the current conditions alone, Pertamina has experienced potential losses from the sale of Pertalite which cannot be as flexible or adjusted.
Moreover, said Abra, if Pertalite is removed and then transferred to Pertamax, it is feared that the price of Pertamax Cs will not be as flexible as the economic price or market price.
“I’m worried that if Pertalite is removed and then Pertamax the price will be intervened by the government, for example the selling price is below the economy, maybe Pertamina will lose more than current conditions if the system is still like today, if the pricing is for non-assigned fuel,” said Abra.
As is known, currently, the price of Pertamax gasoline sold by Pertamina is Rp. 9,000 per liter. This price is certainly lower when compared to the selling price of competitors who sell gasoline of the same type or ron 92 such as Shell’s Super which costs Rp. 12 thousand per liter (November 2021).
