After a particularly hot outgoing weekend, the weather in the first half of the new week will be mostly cloudy and rain is expected in many places. At the beginning of the week, the territory of Latvia will be crossed from the west by a cold atmospheric front, which will carry a large area of ​​precipitation, according to the latest forecasts of the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center.

It will rain in many places on Monday and Tuesday, in places with heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and possibly hail. Rain is also expected in many places on Wednesday with a possible thunderstorm, but not as intense as at the beginning of the week.

On Tuesday in the western districts, but on Wednesday in the whole territory the southwest wind gusts will reach 15-20 m / s. Even on Monday, before the precipitation zone crosses Latvia, in many places the air will warm up to +23 … + 28. However, with the west wind, colder air will gradually enter Latvia, and on Wednesday the air in Latvia will only warm up to the +21 degree mark.

Changing weather is expected in the second half of the week. Another precipitation zone will cross Latvia, which will bring rain in many places. But over the weekend, atmospheric pressure will rise and partly cloudy and mostly dry weather is expected. The wind will blow slowly and the air will warm up to +19 … + 24, on the coast colder, but at night it will cool down to +11 … + 16.

Weather forecasters remind that this week strong heat was observed in many places in Latvia. On Saturday, June 27, the daily maximum air temperature records were broken at 17 observation stations. At Rūjiena and Stende stations, the air warmed to +30.7, which is a new Latvian record on June 27, thus surpassing the +30.6 degrees recorded in 1972 in Jelgava and Priekuli. At the weekend, tropical nights were observed in Riga, when the minimum air temperature at night was not lower than +20 degrees.
