Next week, the animated film My Favorite War / Day will start showing in Latvian cinemas

Documentary animation My favorite war has so far been shown in Annecy in France (victory in the program Reverse shot), The Norwegian International Film Festival and the important festival for world animation professionals Puppet In Switzerland. These days, the film will be screened at a festival in Helsinki (Finland), and in the coming weeks at Ottawa (Canada) and the Busan International Film Festival (South Korea), an important region in Asia. One of the largest audiences for the film is the Ajyal Film Festival in Qatar, which will allow viewers in the region from Egypt to Pakistan. Discussions are also under way to show the film on cinema, TV and VOD platforms, such as in France.

Film producer Guntis Trekteris: “For the filmmakers’ joy My favorite war could be currently the most watched Latvian film in the world. The demand and evaluation of the film suggests that it is the personal and the real who can offend a universal string. Anyone can read the facts of history in a book, but the film reveals the essentials – what it was like to live at a certain time. And the documentary animation in which this film is made is the perfect format to combine real facts with memories and imagination. “

movies My favorite war is an animated autobiographical story, full of sincerity and honesty, about growing in absurd full time from the 1970s until the restoration of Latvia’s independence.

The film has become, for the studio Ego Media in collaboration with Triton Studio (Latvia) and Bivrost Film (Norway), with the support of the National Cinema Center and the State Culture Capital Fund. The film’s creative team consists of artists Svein Nihuss (Svein Nyhus), Krišjānis Ābols, Kerija Arne, Toms Burāns, Laima Puntule, Harijs Grundmanis, Nils Hammers, Arnis Zemītis. The music for the film was composed by Kārlis Auzāns. The making of the film lasted eight years, it is a co-production of Latvia and Norway. In the fall of 2019, the completion of the film was supported by a campaign on a collective investment platform projektubanka.lv.
