The Minister of Health, José Manuel Matheu, explained that vaccination against COVID-19 in schools must be coordinated with the Ministry of Education, but it could start next week.
He indicated that “once the Minister of Education tells me that in each region the schools with the children are ready, they will program and start vaccinating the children.”
Likewise, he stated that at the national level some 70 thousand children have not applied the vaccination scheme, some have only received their first dose and others not one.
Matheu pointed out that “there are 48 percent of vaccinated children, but the goal is to reach more than one million, the vaccines are in the country and more doses will arrive in the coming days.”
At the same time, he asked the population to take advantage of the holidays to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and the entire general schedule of vaccines such as polio, measles, since they are all necessary.
For his part, Secretary of Education, Daniel Sponda, asked parents to take care of their children during Holy Week, for a safe return to school from April 18.
“That this Holy Week is not one of irresponsibility, on the contrary, it should serve to prepare them to return to face-to-face classes,” he said.
