The start date has now been set: The 2Gplus regulation for gatherings of 25 people or more and the extended mask requirement will come into force in Vienna from Friday.
The new Vienna Ordinance – with once again tightened corona rules – will come into force on Friday. This was announced by the office of Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) of the APA on Wednesday. The core of the new measures include the so-called 2Gplus rule, which comes in certain areas, and a more restrictive mask requirement.
In the federal capital, for example, night-time restaurants and events with 25 or more people may only be visited if vaccinated or recovered people also have a PCR test result. In the future, 2Gplus will apply to larger events in the sports and cultural sector, for example.
The FFP2 mask requirement will also be expanded, namely to all non-private indoor spaces. In gastronomy, guests have to take up their masks again when they go to the seat or to the toilet. This applies generally to staff – including those in retail and at body-friendly service providers.
The ordinance is not yet available, and the date of its announcement is still open. According to reports, this could still take place today, Wednesday evening
