Next vaccinations in Salzburg before January 12th

The existing doses could already be used from Monday – 351 new infections within 24 hours in the state

In the federal state of Salzburg, vaccinations against the coronavirus are now being continued earlier than originally planned. 3,900 cans with the active ingredient from Biontech and Pfizer have been stored in Salzburg since Tuesday, but a solvent is still missing to be able to inoculate them. As the “Kronen Zeitung” reported on Friday, the necessary material should now be available by Monday at the latest. At first it was said that the vaccination would continue from January 12th.

Health Advisor LHStv. Christian Stöckl (ÖVP) had initially argued that, despite the existing vaccination doses, it was not expedient to start in small steps – also because of the enormous logistical effort behind the vaccinations. In addition to the active ingredient, you need additional material, such as syringes and needles.

The prerequisite for further vaccination from Monday is that senior citizens’ homes and health facilities have already announced their need, i.e. how many people want to be vaccinated. Since Salzburg’s hospitals have already done this, according to the “Kronen Zeitung”, the COVID stations of the state clinics could come into play.

Meanwhile, another 351 new infections have been added in the state compared to yesterday. According to EMS, the number of actively infected people in the state is currently 2,379, 173 more than on Thursday.
