Unterpremstätten – Despite a good performance over long stretches, VfL Wolfsburg conceded the next test match defeat in preparation for the new season.

At the end of the training camp in Austria, the Bundesliga club had to admit defeat to AS Monaco 1: 2 (1: 0) on Saturday. For the new coach Mark van Bommel it was the fourth defeat in a row.

Yannick Gerhardt put the Champions League participant in the lead in the 39th minute. After changing sides, Sebastiaan Bornauw, who had come from 1. FC Köln, scored an own goal in his first appearance for Lower Saxony (65th). Three minutes later, Aleksandr Golovin made the victory perfect for the French Ligue 1 team trained by Niko Kovac. In addition to Bornauw, Lukas Nmecha also celebrated his debut for Wolfsburg.
