Munich’s lead was 14 points after 31 minutes, before Marcus Thornton ran hot: The Chemnitz man made eight points in the quarter and brought his team within striking distance with two three-pointers. When the music box showed just under 24 seconds, Dominique Johnson took the buzzer heart and sank the three-pointers to what is probably the most spectacular finish of the season so far. The Chemnitz team sank 52.0 percent of the three in the game, twelve of 23 attempts found the target. So the newcomer was able to respond aggressively again and again despite defensive problems in the meantime.

The second Euroleague representative Alba Berlin also had to pass. Brose Bamberg ended Berlin’s streak of eleven wins in a row and won the home game 76:67. After the first quarter it was 20:20, in the second it looked like Berlin would blow the short bank of the Franks out of breath (29: 38/17.). The Bambergers came up to 36:38 by half time. After the break, however, they were caught freezing (36: 46/22.). As a result, Bamberg worked strongly on the defensive, even taking the lead again after a 17: 4 run (51: 50/29.).

It remained a close game until Devon Hall sank two quick three-pointers for Bamberg a good three minutes before the end to make it 67:62. After the guests took a break, Christian Sengfelder added another basket and finally pulled Berlin off the hook for the last two minutes. Sengfelder played the full distance and ended up with a remarkable double-double with 31 points and 17 rebounds. Bamberg played with a seven-man rotation, as in addition to the long-term injured Tyler Larson, Alex Ruoff, Joannic Grüttner-Bacoul and Dominic Lockhardt had to pass.

A player from Franconia was tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 pathogen during the prescribed and regular PCR tests, he is already in quarantine, all other players and team members were tested negative.
