Rom – With a win in the Italian Serie A, Lazio got in the mood for the Champions League duel with FC Bayern. The capital city club prevailed 1-0 (1-0) against Sampdoria Genoa on Saturday and pushed past champions Juventus Turin to fourth.
The decisive goal for the seventh home win in a competitive match was scored by the Spaniard Luis Alberto in the 24th minute with a shot from around 13 meters.
Lazio is strong at home
Lazio welcomes the royal class defending champion from Munich on Tuesday (9 p.m. / Sky and in the AZ live ticker) for the first leg of the round of 16. Lazio has won all games in their home Olympic stadium since mid-December.
The decisive duel between coach Simone Inzaghi’s team and Bayern is on March 17th with the German record champions. In the league, the Romans are currently level on points behind city rivals AS again on a Champions League rank, but have already played two games more than Juve with superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
