The first Slovak in UFC Ľudovít Klein (26) will have the third match in the most prestigious organization on Saturday night. With a balance sheet of 1-1, it is significant for its future.

“I worked like crazy for 15 minutes for half a year, and instead of exercising my life, I completely … said Klein for ŠPORT.sk to the May defeat for points with American Michael Trizan. There were several reasons for the unsatisfactory performance.

An injury that the UFC would not let me into the match with

In addition to his parent Spartacus Fight Gyma in Trnava, Klein completed much of his training at the Sanford MMA in Florida. He returned from Slovakia to the camp and flew back to the USA for less than a month for the match.

“It simply came to our notice then. Instead of acclimatizing, the next day after arriving in Slovakia, I ran for heavy training and I’ve already burned it a bit, “ he continued.

He was also preparing for the Octagon Fighting Academy in Bratislava. The local head coach Ilja Škondrič told for ŠPORT.sk: “Moving up and down in a short time could have caused discomfort. I also perceived his overtraining and overmotivation. He should have slowed down a bit. Often, injuries and mistakes will teach fighters that less is sometimes more. “

“I was seriously injured three weeks before the match,” Klein said, and although he did not specify, he added: “If the UFC knew about the injury, it would not let me into the match. However, it was my decision and I knew what I was getting into. ”

Things have happened that do not belong in preparation

He publicly announced his life form, but not everything went as planned: “Poor performance was not just the result of injury. Things have happened that should not happen in the training of a professional fighter. I don’t specify them either, well I was head somewhere else during the match. I didn’t concentrate fully on the fight, nor did I listen to my horn. “

The question arises as to why he did not cancel the match under the circumstances: “I did not want to come and throw away the difficult preparation. I believed I could do it. Unfortunately… ”

Klein did not get into his fighting style. He drank the cup of bitterness to the bottom, when maybe in the 1st round he dislocated his toe and tore the adjacent ligaments. “Thanks to the adrenaline, I didn’t feel it and the injury didn’t limit me,” he didn’t say.

Végh: Lost? There is only one answer to that

Las Vegas Airport Hall came to show life form. A few days later, he was pushed through the same spaces in a wheelchair with an injured leg and the first loss after four years and eight victories (17-3 in total). Why?

“The only answer is that he didn’t win the match. Even the best fighter will not always perform 100%. He couldn’t start, there were a lot of mistakes. If we wanted to break them all down, we would talk for 20 hours. “ said Klein ‘s coach Attila Végh for ŠPORT.sk.

He professionalized the preparation

After returning to Slovakia, Klein underwent surgery and although after three weeks he trained his upper body on barrels, he also learned to relax and professionalized his training.

He established cooperation with strength and fitness trainer Miloslav Ceb and mental coach Radek Šefčík. He had previously worked alone on both aspects and described the help of a mental coach as “nonsense”: “I realized that if I want to move forward, I also need to work on the details. Thanks to Radek, I better understood the loss to Trizan and I can also take advantage of the uncomfortable situation. ”

Once again, he completed a 7-week camp in Sanford, where Kamara Usman, Robbie Lawler, Michael Chandler and Czech Viktor Pest are preparing under the leadership of the well-known Henri Hooft.

Klein did not return to Slovakia this time before the fight. Instead of training partner Richard Konec, he completed training with attitude trainer Pavel Kurec, known as “Lapo”.

He also worked on responding to the constant pressure of an opponent that Trizano had interviewed for ŠPORT.sk described as a ‘Klein recipe’. “If the opponent tries, I’ll be ready. It works for me on sparring, “ promises Novozámčan.

Prove myself and others that I belong to the UFC

Who will be his opponent on Saturday? American Nate Landwehr entered the UFC with a balance of 13-2. In the prestigious Russian organization M-1, he won the title in pen weight and defended twice. In the “Champions League” MMA got two knockouts in the 1st round (one from Klein’s partner in Sanford Herbert Burns) and once won points. He professes militancy more than technique, which should suit Klein.

“He is very hard, handy, he has valuable scalps on his belt. He will push, albeit a little differently than Trizano. He is in front of me in the rankings, but I did not come to choose opponents. Especially after the loss, I want to prove to myself and others that I belong to the UFC and I can also beat good opponents, “said Klein for ŠPORT.sk.

Disappointment with Trizan did not break him, on the contrary, it strengthened him: “It was not my first loss. No one can avoid a weaker day, it belongs to sports. In MMA, you just wait half a year for another match to get a taste for loss. I carry it in my head, but as a lesson and motivation. “

The Klein-Landwehr duel was ranked third in the prelims at UFC Fight Night 195 at Apex in Las Vegas. The fighters enter the cage after 11 p.m. You can watch the match on Premier Sport or via Voyo or UFC Fight Pass.
