Next-Generation Suzuki Swift Concept Unveiled: Changes, Design, and Features

The third-generation Suzuki Swift debuted nearly seven years ago after being unveiled in late 2016. Judging by the fact that most automakers don’t wait even that long, it’s no surprise that the hatchback is already on its way to the next generation of the model. Before that happens, however, a concept car was unveiled today ahead of its official debut scheduled for later this month at the Japan Mobility Show, which will be held at the Big Sight exhibition center in Tokyo.

Although Suzuki claims this is a concept car, we can expect it to be extremely close to the production model. The changes are minimal, although they are noticeable at first glance. For starters, the rear door handles are no longer mounted high up next to the C-pillar, but moved to their usual location.

The profile shows fixed glass on the rear doors, which has never been seen before, and a new prominent character line runs from front to rear. We also notice a “Hybrid” badge in the front fender along with a camera mounted at the bottom of the side mirrors.

The front end looks more like a facelift than a next-gen car. It has a small radiator grill with a sensor mounted on top and a camera below it. This new grille no longer contains the Suzuki badge as the corporate logo is now located on the bumper. The visibly shorter bonnet looks more rounded than before, judging by its outline, while the headlights have been minimally reshaped.
