The next generation Peugeot 5008 should be, as before, a larger version of the 3008. However, we will have to wait many months for it.
The five-seater Peugeot 3008 has already revealed itself in a new generation, the bulk of which will be the electric version of the e-3008. Its larger variant, codenamed 5008, will be unveiled in March next year, according to Stellantis CFO Natalie Knight. She confirmed this in a debate with analysts on the topic of Stellantis’ financial results for the third quarter of this year.
The Peugeot 5008 will come, like the 3008, on the STLA Medium chassis platform. It is primarily intended for electric cars, but it can also handle an internal combustion engine. The new “five thousand and eight” is to come in an electric version and as a hybrid. For hybrids, if there are more of them, there will probably be a system with a new generation PureTech three-cylinder and a 48V electrical system, which the automaker introduced in the existing 3008 and 5008 already in September of this year.
The current design of the Peugeot 5008 remains popular with customers, despite the fact that since the modernization in 2020, the offer of engines with higher performance has been significantly reduced. Over 34,000 units were sold in the first nine months of this year, eight thousand more than in the same period last year.
Knight also said that in addition to the new 5008, several other electric cars will also be coming to European markets next year. These include the e-408 model and the Fiat 600e and Topolino.
