Weather forecast for the next few days
A vast area of high pressure will continue to dominate the meteorological picture over Italy in the coming days, but with effects and consequences that are not always favorable to good weather.
We generally associate high pressure with clear skies and stable weather conditions; however, in the winter period, this often does not happen. Indeed, in certain circumstances high pressure can lead to opposite effects, such as the formation of persistent fog and the development of low clouds, in a gray and gloomy context.
This is precisely what will happen in the next few days in many areas of the North, especially in the Po Valley and the entire Tyrrhenian coast, in particular on the coastal segments. The densest and most persistent fogs will envelop the Po Valley, up to the Alpine valley floors, especially in the Triveneto area. In the meantime, low clouds, or maritime clouds, will cover the skies of Liguria, Tuscany and up to Lazio, also causing drizzle phenomena.
At the same time, there will be more sunshine on the mountain ranges, on the Adriatic coasts and especially in the South, even if as the days go by the high pressure will gradually become less dominant and this will favor an increase in cloud cover also in the rest of the North and the Center.
These non-unique effects of the anticyclone will significantly influence the climate: in the areas where the sun manages to prevail it will in fact be decidedly milder, while where fog and low clouds dominate it will be more humid and cold.
In short, so-called thermal inversions will occur, a meteorological phenomenon that occurs when a layer of cold air is trapped under a layer of warmer air. Normally, the atmosphere cools with increasing altitude, but during a temperature inversion, this phenomenon reverses.
For a more marked change in the general weather and climate picture, it will probably be necessary to wait until the beginning of the new year, when an Atlantic disturbance seems intent on passing over our country.
However, we will provide you with more precise details in future updates.
