Next defeat for the U21 despite improved performance
The U21 of SpVgg Unterhaching suffered a 0-1 defeat against SV Erlbach in the home game on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024. After recent disappointing games, coach Marc Endres’ young team showed a clear upward trend and posed problems for the top team from Erlbach.
In the first half, the Hachingers presented themselves as committed and combative. Despite the defensive stability of SV Erlbach, who had only conceded five goals in twelve games, the U21 managed to create some offensive situations but ultimately lacked penetration. The hosts could have taken the lead in the middle of the first half: Marcel Martens had a great chance after a corner, but he couldn’t put the ball into the goal from close range. It remained 0-0 at half-time.
The guests from Erlbach, known for their efficiency, struck after the break. In the 48th minute, from a seemingly harmless situation, Florian Wiedl suddenly found himself free in front of the goal and scored to make it 1-0 for the guests. The Erlbachers defended this lead until the final whistle and thus achieved their next victory.
Despite the defeat, Marc Endres’ team showed a significantly improved performance. Defensively, the red-blues were more stable and effective than in previous games. The debut of Raphael Schneider and Noah Markulin, who moved up from the A-youth into the starting line-up and took their first steps in the men’s division, was particularly pleasing. Endres was satisfied with the performance of the young duo and sees them as two bearers of hope for the future.
“We defended much more effectively today and made it very difficult for the Erlbachers,” said Marc Endres, praising his team’s performance. Although they suffered their fourth defeat in a row, the game gives hope for a turnaround soon.
