Next Assassin’s Creed is supposed to be a smaller game with more focus …

The next Assassin’s Creed game will be smaller than usual, with more focus on sneaking than action. It claims Bloomberg in a new report.

Sources with knowledge of the situation tell the website that the game – which has the code name Rift – was originally to be an expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Late last year, however, Ubisoft decided to turn the whole thing into a standalone game, it is explained.

Basim is supposed to play the lead role in the new Assassin’s Creed game.

According to rumors, it is Basim – known for his supporting role in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – who gets the lead role in the game. He gets to frolic in a world that is far more linear than the large and open environment Assassin’s Creed fans are used to, and after that Eurogamer experience, the action may take place in Baghdad.

The game is supposed to come later this year or sometime next year.

Ubisoft did not want to comment on the rumors. In an earlier Eurogamer interview, Valhalla producer José Araiza confirmed that Basim will reappear in some way, and a separate game would clearly be a solid comeback for the popular game character.

Otherwise, Ubisoft is puzzled with the next big step for the series, called Assassin’s Creed Infinity. This will be a so-called “live service” game, with a world that develops over time and gets new content from different time periods.
