For the first day of the summit, President Lula is expected to participate in two thematic meetings of the G20: “One Planet”, on sustainable development, and “One Family”, on inclusive growth, progress in the sustainable development goals (SDG), education, health, and women-led development.
On Sunday, the third session of the summit will take place, with the panel “A Future”, on technological transformations, digital public infrastructure, multilateral reforms and the future of work and employment. Then there will be the transfer of the Presidency of the G20. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the President will speak about India’s Presidency in 2023 and expectations for Brazil in 2024.
“We are going to preside over the G20 next year, the BRICS in 2025 and also hold the United Nations Climate Conference (COP30) in Belém. There are three mega-events that will give Brazil a different visibility than what it has had in recent years. Country makes the world respect us again, for the seriousness with which we treat people and the climate issue”, he said.
Brazil’s rotating presidency at the G20 runs until the end of 2024, when a new summit will be held in Brazil, in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The meeting is scheduled to take place on the 18th and 19th of November next year.
