Danilo Sousa Cavalcante, 34, escaped from the prison where he was in the United States this Thursday (31). He was sentenced to life imprisonment after killing his ex-girlfriend Deborah Brandão.
US authorities classify the man as “extremely dangerous”. There is a reward of US$ 10,000 (R$ 50,000) for information leading to the capture of the Brazilian.
What is known about the escape?
The news of the escape was released by the prosecution through Twitter.
According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Chester County Jail Acting Warden Howard Holland told a news conference that he would not answer questions about how Cavalcante escaped because the matter is still under investigation. Another hypothesis for the mystery is not to give “tips” for new leaks.
The only detail disclosed was that Danilo’s absence was noticed around 9am. As soon as the escape was noticed, the penitentiary administration blocked all the facilities and notified other entities.
Deb Ryan, the Chester County District Attorney, said that initially the search was county-wide and that residents within a 10 km radius of the jail were notified.
Brazilian was last seen at 9:30 am, walking towards the south of Pocopson township, on Wawaset Road, where the prison is located. In the images, he is already out of prison uniform, wearing jeans and a white T-shirt.
Chester County and the US Marshals announced a joint reward of US$10,000 (about R$50,000), US$5,000 each, for information leading to the capture of the Brazilian.
