Musician Chico Buarque underwent surgery on Saturday, the 12th, to treat a knee problem. Hospitalized since the weekend, the 79-year-old artist is still under observation and should be released within the next few days.
The information comes from columnist Ancelmo Gois, from O Globo, who detailed that surgery on the musician’s right knee, called arthroscopy, was performed to correct a worn out joint.
Without giving up playing sports, including football, the surgery was carried out due to the risk of Chico Buarque having more serious problems and losing the mobility of the limb over time.
According to the columnist, the surgical procedure enabled the medical team to diagnose other problems with Chico Buarque’s knee. The surgery is described as non-invasive but delicate, but the Brazilian artist should be discharged soon.
