Next setback. Conceded against Puchberg Pottschach a surprising 1:2 defeat, they are now seven points behind league leaders Grünbach. “Even if you’re already thinking about May and June, that’s a mortgage,” says chairman Klaus Lechner, who was not at all satisfied with the performance against the Schneeberglanders: “We had failures, but we have a broad squad in which everyone has the right to play, but then you also have to deliver.”
Made a comeback. Thomas Selhofer (35) actually ended his active career in the summer. “He’s been training with the reserves again for a few weeks now,” reports club boss Lechner, because Pottschach When Puchberger ran out of defensive players, the experienced full-back returned to the KM and was immediately in the starting line-up.
Striker found. Stefan Kalusa is actually a defensive or central midfielder. Puchberg-Trainer Andreas Staufer now converted the homegrown player into an attacker. A move that worked. Kalusa coldly scored against Pottschach from around 20 meters to take the lead.
Bad training week. In the run-up to the St. Egyden game there was Hochneukirchen something around. “Several players were ill during the week. There was always someone missing from training. The training week was actually forgettable,” says sports director Herbert Stübegger, but USC still turned a 1-2 halftime deficit into a 5-3 win against St. Egyden.
Different face. The Mannsfeldner team quickly turned the game around after the break. “Then it went poof, boom and we were in front,” describes Stübegger onomatopoeically. Then hit Hochneukirchen-Defender Philip Stögerer hit twice, twice with his foot: “Actually, he’s a header player,” smiles Stübegger: “This time he scored twice after corners.”
Only half a reaction. After the 1:6 defeat against Kirchberg demanded St. Egyden-Trainer Günter Pürzl made a significant improvement. His team only showed this in the first half of the match against Hochneukirchen. The Steinfeld team deservedly led 2-1. After the break, however, USC took command. In the end, St. Egyden was well served by conceding “only” five goals.
Trend upwards. Kirchberg left with the 3-2 home win Gloggnitz KM II the end of the table. “The boys understood what it was about after the conversation we had two weeks ago. I think we’re getting better every game, but it’s a young team. There will also be games where things might not be right,” says coach Jürgen Röcher.
Picked up the pace. That Kirchberg-Coach Stefan Motsch would have preferred to play the local duel against Gloggnitz KM II at the large Gloggnitz sports field rather than at the small track in Schottwien. “We couldn’t make use of our speed, but we also couldn’t make use of our duel virtues. We have to accept that more in the next games.”
