“The fascinating thing about the Meistersingers is that you can find everything in them. Heroes and antiheroes, comedy and tragedy, the old and the new – a whole world. «So Christian Thielemann about Wagner’s mammoth opera, which has long been one of his best works, and not just among Wagnerians. In 2019 Christian Thielemann stood at the podium of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden at the Salzburg Easter Festival and created music with an illustrious ensemble of singers around Georg Zeppenfeld, Klaus Florian Vogt and Jacquelyn Wagner, which was rightly acclaimed by critics. This delight lasted a record-breaking five hours and 38 minutes – the resulting one CD “The Mastersingers of Nuremberg” is at Profile in the Edition Sächsische Staatskapelle appeared and can be won today.
