TBV Lemgo Lippe is celebrating a very special anniversary this year: The Lippe team has been playing in the 1st Handball Bundesliga without interruption for 40 years now. Against TuS Griesheim on May 14, 1983, the TBV completed the much-celebrated promotion from the second division to the handball upper house and since then it has become indispensable in the strongest league in the world. The Lippers would now like to celebrate this special achievement with an anniversary game day on May 6th. opponent is then of all things FRESH ON! Göppingen, against whom the TBV played its first premier league game in September 1983.

“Playing 40 years without interruption in the strongest handball league in the world is anything but a matter of course for us and a special reason to celebrate!”, TBV Managing Director Jörg Zereike is already looking forward to the anniversary game day against FRISCH AUF! Göppingen (May 6, 6:30 p.m.). Only one other club from the HBL can currently look back on such a long, consistent affiliation with the first division: the German record champions THW Kiel. “We can look back on great successes over the past 40 years, but also on difficult moments. Establishing oneself in this extremely strong league over such a long period of time is something that those responsible, fans, partners and sponsors and all supporters of the club can be proud of,” Zereike continued.

Of course, they shouldn’t be missing from the anniversary game day, the heroes who made TBV’s promotion to the first division perfect in 1983. “We will use the game to celebrate and honor the team from back then for their success. Many players from that team have already confirmed their attendance. For many of our fans it is certainly a nice experience to see the heroes of 1983 live again,” Zereike is in close contact with the promotion team. Players and those responsible from the first first division year (season 1983/84) have also announced their coming.

Limited anniversary jersey

Special occasions require special attire. This is how the Bundesliga team in the home game against FRISCH AUF! Göppingen run onto the field in a specially designed anniversary jersey, which will only be worn at this game. The anniversary jersey will also be available for purchase for fans, but in a strictly limited edition of 150 copies. Information about the start of sales will follow shortly.

There will also be a lot to experience for young and old around the anniversary match day. Various hands-on activities are offered on the forecourt of the Phoenix Contact Arena. In addition to various action modules such as a goal wall and ball throw measuring system, the Lemgo fire brigade will also be there and introduce themselves to the TBV fans. “We have come up with many activities for the anniversary game day that should make the visit to the Phoenix Contact Arena very special on this day. Our fans can already be excited and look forward to the Göppingen game,” reveals Steffen Tegeler, Head of Sales and Marketing at TBV Lemgo Lippe.

After the encounter, TBV fans can continue to wallow in fond memories. Because at the anniversary party, which takes place directly after the game in the Phoenix Contact Arena, none other than the Lemgo DJ icon DJ Mike Molto together with Olli Güttge will provide the right music. The many legendary handball parties with DJ Mike Molto should still be fondly remembered by long-time TBV fans.

Advance booking for the anniversary game day starts now / LZ family block is open

Tickets for the special TBV anniversary game day are now available at all known advance booking offices and in the online ticket shop. Also against FRESH OPEN! The popular LZ family block will be open in Göppingen. The family block offers great seats at reasonable prices. Two adults and one child up to the age of 17 pay a total of only 40 euros. Each additional child pays 5 euros. And then there’s also a tasty surprise for the boys and girls: For each reduced children’s ticket, the LZ gives the young viewers a voucher that can be exchanged directly for a soft drink (0.33l) or a medium-sized portion of popcorn.
