News studio – Websites down: – Indicates a new attack

Late Wednesday night, several of Schibsted’s online newspapers were down. The media group believes that everything indicates that there was a new computer attack.

According to Bergensavisen, this included VG, Bergens Tidende, Aftenposten and Stavanger Aftenblad.

– It is true that several of Schibsted’s newspapers have experienced instability for a period this evening, and all indications are that the reason is a new denial of service attack, says communications director Atle Lessum in Schibsted.

He stated at 23.16 that the services were up or on their way up again.

On Wednesday last week, both several Schibsted newspapers and NRK experienced problems, and they confirmed that they were subjected to a computer attack. On the same day, hacker attacks also started against, among others, the Norwegian Labor Inspection Authority, Altinn, BankID’s website, Buypass, and several other websites. The police were also affected by the attack.

– Everything indicates that the attack came from a Russian and, I would say, criminal environment, said Minister of Justice Emilie Enger Mehl (Sp).

The Russian hacker group Killnet is believed to be behind the attacks.
