News – Seattle: the new Arena is advancing by leaps and bounds

The construction phase for the Seattle expansion team’s new arena has started, with the project due to be delivered in the summer of 2021 and the newly formed team expected to start playing in the 2021-22 season.

The USD 930 million project was funded by the private sector. It is unique, in the sense that the original roof of the building must be preserved, because it has historical value for Seattle.

The roof was part of the original structure built in 1962 for the World Expo and is part of the cityscape of Seattle. It is held by 70 columns and a huge beam while the workers are working underneath, then it will be attached to the new structure as construction progresses.

Finally, excavation means moving nearly 460,000 cubic meters of debris and it will be finished in February.
