News – SC Magdeburg Handball

The third match day in the third league North/East is upon us. The youngsters of SC Magdeburg will host newly promoted LHC Cottbus in the Wolfgang-Lakenmacher-Halle. The duel will kick off at 7 p.m.

The YoungsterS of SC Magdeburg have started the new season in the third league North/East with two unfortunate defeats. The next match for coach Christoph Theuerkauf’s team is on Saturday evening. As part of the third match day, the YoungsterS will host promoted team LHC Cottbus in the Wolfgang-Lakenmacher-Halle. It starts at 7 p.m. Entry to the hall is free – so come along and support the YoungsterS.

On the first match day, the YoungsterS were narrowly defeated 30:31 by the second team of SC DHfK Leipzig, and last week the SC Magdeburg juniors lost 28:35 to the reigning champions of the third division North/East, MTV Braunschweig. Nevertheless, coach Christoph Theuerkauf saw good approaches from his team in both duels. After the match in Braunschweig, he praised his boys’ attitude in particular: “We fought and never gave up, but in the end the burden from the first five minutes was too high in the second half.” But his team “invested everything. I can’t blame my boys for that.”

Now on Saturday the Youngsters will have the opportunity to collect their first points of the new season in front of their home crowd. The guests will be one of the three promoted teams in the third division North/East, LHC Cottbus. The Brandenburg team started the season with one win and one loss, and are currently in seventh place in the table with 2:2 points and a goal difference of 61:60.

At the start of the season, the Cottbus team won 33:30 against HSG Eider Harde, last weekend they had to admit defeat 28:30 against another promoted team, TuS Vinnhorst from 1956.

The fact that Cottbus has conceded 30 goals in both matches of the new season should give courage to the YoungsterS, who made headlines last season, especially with their strong and effective offense. The SCM junior handball players scored 981 goals recently, only champions MTV Braunschweig scored more goals (986).

But on Saturday evening the Youngsters need one thing above all else: support from the stands! So come along to the Wolfgang-Lakenmacher-Halle in large numbers and cheer the team on loudly – admission is free.

If you can’t cheer on the Youngsters on site, you can find Sportdeutschland.tv the live stream of the game and can thus also support the SC Magdeburg youth team.
