On Saturday night, just before 4:45 am, a person was shot by outdoor police in Blystadlia, Rælingen municipality, according to the East Police District.
– The person was shot by the police after the person fired several shots and aimed a firearm at the police, operations manager Terje Skaftnes in the Eastern Police District told Romerikes Blad.
The person must be a man, according to the police.
– The man was taken to hospital with moderate to severe injuries. The injuries are not life-threatening, says Skaftnes.
The Bureau of Police Affairs has been notified and will move to investigate the incident, police say.
The police will not say anything about the cause of the accident. They warn that there will be more information during the day.
On Saturday morning, the Office reported in a press release that the injured man was shot in the leg and possibly in the arm.
– The special unit has launched an investigation to clarify the course of events and further circumstances relating to the duty of the police. Kripos will assist the Office in crime scene investigations and other technical investigations. The police service weapon is safe. The Bureau will, as soon as possible, question the officials who were directly involved in the incident and the victims who are in the hospital, the Bureau writes.
