The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) was unable to rule on the fate of fights last night and postponed its decision on this matter until next August.
The desire to arrive at a decision seems increasingly strong, but during the members’ assembly, which took place in Montreal, the representatives of the 18 QMJHL teams simply decided to postpone the vote.

To reach a decision, 12 out of 18 favorable votes are needed, but it seems that the owners are divided on the subject.
You should know that the fights in the QMJHL have already halved for five years, in particular thanks to more severe sanctions adopted in 2015. But new regulations concerning fights could now be applied depending on the situation: if two players decide to fight to beat, if a player is the instigator of a fight or if a player is aggressor towards another.
It is therefore an important culture change and it takes time to build consensus.
