PINET – The municipal election postponed again
The soap opera begins to become interminable for the inhabitants of Pinet.
In the municipal election last March, only one vote separated the two candidates, Gérard Barrau (449 votes) and Nicolas Isern (448 votes). A gap deemed too low by the Montpellier administrative court which annulled the election and reconvened the voters of Pinet on December 13, 2020.
This was not without counting on the rebound of the covid-19 pandemic which pushed the Prefect of Hérault to postpone the election by a few weeks.
Rescheduled on January 31, 2021, the campaign was again difficult due to the health context. So that each candidate could make his program known to as many people as possible, hérault-tribune met the two candidates, confronting them with questions from journalist Paul-Éric Laures.
The date of the election was approaching and unfortunately, democracy will have to wait a few more weeks since the candidates learned last Saturday from the Prefecture of Hérault that the poll was once again postponed due to the severely degraded health context and likely to hold back voters.
The two candidates have no choice but to accept this wise decision. For the moment, no new date has been rescheduled and the day-to-day management of the municipality is ensured by a special delegation appointed by the Prefect pending the installation of a new municipal council.
