Brasilia/Prensa Latina

Coach Dorival Junior called up the Brazilian men’s soccer team on Friday with five new players for the matches in September against Ecuador and Paraguay, in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The new names are André, Gerson, Estêvão, Luiz Henrique and Pedro.

The latter, however, may be cut if he does not recover from a thigh injury.

Once again, striker Neymar Jr., who continues to recover from a serious knee injury, was left out of the squad.

“Neymar is fundamental, decisive and he has not yet fully returned. I have no doubt that, as soon as he is fit, he will be back in the squad, at the right time,” said the coach.

Brazil is sixth with seven points and just two wins.

The match against Ecuador is scheduled for September 6, while the match against Paraguay will be on the 10th of that month.

Brazilian players called up:

Goalkeepers: Alisson (Liverpool), Bento (Al-Nassr), Ederson (Manchester City).

Full-backs: Danilo (Juventus), Yan Couto (Borussia Dortmund), Guilherme Arana (Atlético-MG), Wendell (Porto)

Forwards: Beraldo (PSG), Militao (Real Madrid), G. Magalhaes (Arsenal), Marquinhos (PSG)

Midfielders: André (Fluminense), B. Guimarães (Newcastle), Gerson (Flamengo), João Gomes (Wolverhampton), Paquetá (West Ham), Rodrygo (Real Madrid).

Forwards: Endrick (Real Madrid), Estevão (Palmeiras), Luiz Henrique (Botafogo), Pedro (Flamengo), Savinho (Manchester City), Vinicius Jr. (Real Madrid).
