“These photos will be a bit special to me even when time passes and the show they represent will no longer be in the repertoire,” says actress Aija Dzërve, speaking of her favorite photo, which was taken three years ago.
“A year before the pandemic and the mad covid madness, one day I found and started translating a play by Canadian playwright Norm Foster with the idea of trying to play it. I had already starred in another play by the same author under the direction by Kārlis Auškāpas at the Dailes Theater, and I found this playwright understandable and I liked it. Also, the premonitions came true that we could meet again this time and that the joy of the game would bring satisfaction, because the actors came close at that moment – Sarmīte Rubule, Māris Bezmers and Kristians Karelins – with whom I had met in other projects, showed initiative and consent. Māris Bezmers also took charge of directing the show and, in this autumn period of 2019, the premiere of the production was held in the theater club “Austrumu queen” with the name “I’m looking for the real one”.
Aija is happy that the show, created three years ago, is a good success and will now be shown for the fourth season. “For us this project is always a pleasure to meet and play, and sometimes I think we are like a micro, self-explanatory, imprint of the« ABBA »group …. And perhaps some inexplicable impulse, choosing this material and creating a show, has come even from our childhood. “In recounting this, the actress admits that her father once told her that she could be calmed and asleep by playing the records of Lipps, Blondie and ABBA.” Of course, I still like the music and the style of that time! ”she adds.
True, the cast of the show has changed at the moment: the role of Sarmīte Rubule was taken on by the actress of the Latvian National Theater Evija Krūze. “Obviously, every newcomer brings his own colors, although sometimes I look and think: how similar they are (Sarmīte and Evija) all of a sudden! Therefore, you could put the two images next to each other and say: find ten differences! ” Aija Zerve laughs.
