Among the players selected for the 2021 Draft, we find surnames of players known or a little less known in Europe because their fathers played in the NHL only a few years ago.
So the attacker Tyler Boucher (18) tops the list: he was selected 10th by the Ottawa Senators. He is the son of former goaltender Brian Boucher (328 games with seven NHL teams in 13 seasons). The latter currently works as an analyst for the ESPN network.
Known since this season in the Swiss League, Mason McTavish was selected in 3rd place by the Anaheim Ducks. His father Dale McTavish played nine games with the Calgary Flames in 1996-97, as well as 14 professional seasons in Finland and Switzerland.
Cole Sillinger was selected 12th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets. His father Mike is a former forward who collected 548 points (240 goals, 308 assists) in 1,049 regular season games spread over 17 seasons.
Finally, Chase Stillman was selected 29th by the New Jersey Devils. His father, Cory Stillman, was selected by the Flames in the 1992 Draft. He then played 1,025 NHL games and won the Stanley Cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2004, then with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006. .
Josh Doan (19): Son of former forward and current Arizona Coyotes hockey development director Shane Doan. Josh was selected in the 2nd round (37th overall) by the Arizona Coyotes.
