Large forces from the emergency services moved to Loddefjord when a report of a fire in a detached house came in on the night of Friday.
The fire service was on the scene just after 0400 and started extinguishing the scene. The conditions were demanding for the fire crews due to fire in the cladding and roof structure.
– The smoke escapes through the roof, explained watch commander Håkon Myking to BA just before 0500 to BA.
Evacuated
There are seven people registered at the address. Everyone must have managed to evacuate themselves when the fire started. One person was taken to the emergency department for a check-up.
– A man in his 70s was taken to the emergency department for a check-up. He was taken there by ambulance, says operations manager Stine Mjelde to BA.
The man must have inhaled smoke.
Operations leader from the police, Synnøve Malkenes, says that the evacuees have been given shelter by the municipality.
– This concerns a family of seven people and two dogs.
Early on Friday morning, the fire service announced that they had the fire under control. Crews from Laksevåg, Åsane, and the main station were dispatched to the fire.
Myking from 110 Vest says that it was difficult for the crews to get to the fire.
– They have worked on the roof and it can be challenging, says Myking.
Malkenes says that they have a theory that the fire may have started in the cladding.
Sending forensics
Operations manager in the West police district, Stine Mjelde, says that they will get assistance from forensics to carry out crime scene investigations during Friday.
– There is nothing to indicate that this was arson, but it is something we want to check. Forensics will carry out on-site investigations when the fire service has finished.
– Now we are on the scene to talk to witnesses.
Leif Erik Gjesdal, incident leader for the fire service at the scene, says that they are still working on extinguishing the fire.
– Smoke divers work on site. There is smoke inside and water damage, he says.
