In the last 24 hours, 238 new cases of infection have been registered in the twelve municipalities in Romerike. This is an increase of 57 cases since the last RB update.

In Nittedal, 49 new cases of infection have been detected in the last 24 hours. On Monday, the municipality decided that the level of measures in the schools should be downgraded from red to yellow. The reason for the change is that the infection rate among children and young people in schools is no longer at the same level as before the Christmas holidays.

– In addition to falling infection in the last weeks of 2021, most employees in the school have now also received the third dose of vaccine, says mayor Inge Solli (V) to Varingen.

– Labor intensive

Solli believes it is absolutely right to put the schools on a yellow level.

– Running schools at the red level is very labor-intensive and it involves a number of home schools, which in turn have negative consequences for mental health in those who do not feel well at home. That is why, like most of the municipalities around us, we are downgrading to a yellow level, says the mayor.

The crisis management also eases somewhat the strict quarantine regulations that have been in Nittedal.

– We exempt students and employees in upper secondary school from the quarantine provision since they have a strict test regime. For the children and youth stage, we will make new assessments towards next week, he says.

– Must expect higher infection

FHI fears sky-high infection rates in the future. Several municipalities in Romerike are now preparing for an increased infection pressure. In Lillestrøm, people are excited about the time ahead.

– We must expect higher infection when we have a virus variant that is as contagious as the omicron variant is. But we still do not know exactly how much more contagious this variant is, and then we also do not know what higher infection will have to say for the disease burden, says mayor Jørgen Vik (Labor).
