In Latvia, the incidence of Covid-19 continues to decline

Public debt is rising
The time of the pandemic has had a significant impact on the state budget.
In the first five months of the year, expenditures were much higher than revenues.
The consolidated general budget showed a deficit of 630 million euros.
Last year there was a surplus of 60 million at that time, but a year earlier – even a surplus of more than 500 million euros.
Nearly one billion euros have been spent on mitigating the effects of Covid-19.
As a result, public debt is rising.
However, tax revenues are beginning to improve rapidly.
The plan of the Latvian Recovery and Sustainability Mechanism is approved
The European Commission approved the Latvian Recovery and Sustainability Mechanism Plan.
That is less than two billion euros.
This was announced by Urzula von der Leiena, President of the European Commission.
She is currently on a visit to Latvia.
This money is intended to support six areas, including climate goals, reducing inequalities and more.
Latvia will receive the first part of the money already in July.
Leiena pointed out that this plan will ensure a better life for the people of Latvia.
Judge: Lembergs deliberately delayed the trial
Aivars Lembergs, accused of serious crimes and suspended from the duties of the mayor of Ventspils, deliberately delayed the criminal proceedings.
