Miners are blamed for disclosing undisclosed information
Former Attorney General Erik Kalnmeier may have to appear in court for disclosing inside information.
The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau, or KNAB, encourages the Prosecutor General’s Office to initiate criminal proceedings against Kalnmeier.
It is now up to the prosecutor’s office to decide whether to prosecute.
Former Prosecutor General Ēriks Kalnmeiers replied to Latvijas Radio that he would not provide any comments until all the circumstances were fully clarified.
Latvian Television reports that Kalnmeier is being prosecuted, possibly in connection with the leak of information in the bribery case of Jelgava prosecutor Zinaida Egle.
Salaries for “Eternal Children” assistants could be raised up to 608 euros
The remuneration of children with severe disabilities or “eternal children” could be increased to 608 euros per workload.
It is offered by the Ministry of Welfare.
There is a shortage of assistants because state support is insufficient – only 313 euros.
Consequently, such care is forced to be provided by relatives.
Currently, two and a half thousand children with disabilities in Latvia need special care.
About a thousand children use the assistant service.
The Ministry of Welfare intends that a person with the first or second disability group would go to social services.
With the help of a questionnaire, the service would find out how many hours of assistant services per month should be provided.
Both the deputies of the Saeima and the parents of the “eternal children” doubt that the plan will really solve the problem.
Parents believe that more thought should be given to day care centers and group homes.
Paid sick leave is also required for parents raising adult children with disabilities.
The Social and Labor Affairs Committee of the Saeima will continue to see this plan.
Exporting companies will have support in overcoming the crisis
The European Commission has approved Latvia’s support program for exporting companies Covid-19 to overcome the crisis.
The amount of the support program is 51 million euros.
It is planned that 350 companies will receive this support.
In the last day, three cases of Covid-19 were detected in Latvia.
A total of 1871 people were tested.
The Center for Disease Prevention and Control found that two patients came from high-incidence countries.
