Winemaking legends in Southern Styria
The new season of “Winemaker legends” on Servus TV begins on Friday, 6 September from 9.15 p.m. with a culinary highlight in red-white-red. The first episode takes us to Burgenland to the Triebaumer family, to Vienna to Fritz Wieninger and to Southern Styria to the Lackner-Tinnacher winery.
The “wine miracle” in southern Styria was shaped by the golden generation of the Lackner-Tinnacher, Polz, Sattlerhof, Tement, Gross and Winkler-Hermaden wineries. A generation later, Katharina Tinnacher from the Gamlitz winery Lackner Tinnacher already 45 percent of their bottles. Their main grape varieties: Sauvignon Blanc and Morillon, as Chardonnay is called in Styria. Katharina Tinnacher traveled to the original home of Chardonnay, Burgundy in eastern France, as a teenager: “If you put a glass of Burgundy in front of me, blind, I close my eyes and say: Burgundy. It is a never-ending fascination and enthusiasm. But at the same time you think about copying it, you would only be second. And we don’t want to be second.”
