This year’s motto was Speed: Unleashing Tomorrow’s Technology – Today. The whole range of news revolved around the 5G network, which offers up to ten times faster data transfers compared to the previous generation. But fifth generation networks bring much more than speeding up the Internet.

The 5G standard will not only serve to connect computers and mobile phones to the Internet. It will also be used by smart devices that are gradually settling into domestic households. The new generation of mobile internet will find application in, for example, transport, virtual reality, sports, but also in the field of health.

As for mobile phones, even cheap models with a price tag of less than five thousand offer 5G connections these days. For more expensive devices, the new generation of mobile networks can be taken for granted. This is also the case with the new Honor Magic5 Lite, which attracted a lot of attention at the fair.

With a thickness of 7.9 mm, it is one of the thinnest smartphones on the market, yet the manufacturer promises an above-standard endurance of up to three days. The device with a price tag of 9.5 thousand crowns also has a rounded OLED display, which makes it look even thinner. Its diagonal is 6.67 inches and the resolution is 2400 × 1080 pixels.

The Snapdragon 695 5G chip allows even modern games to be played without problems, and there are three different cameras on the back.

At the same time, future generations of phones will be even thinner, as shown by OnePlus. Although the concept of the 11 model has not yet been confirmed for series production, several functional models were on display at the exhibition site.

At the waist, this phone is only 5.04 millimeters, if we exclude the raised island with the camera. In contrast, the thickness of the most powerful mobile phones today is close to one centimeter.

Such compact proportions were achieved thanks to a completely new cooling system. The most powerful mobile phones, which are usually aimed at gamers, are not small ones – active cooling with a fan has a negative effect on the dimensions.

Such a solution can cool even the most powerful mobile chipsets, but the greater thickness is not very attractive for users. For example, Asus solved it years ago with its gaming ROG Phone by making the fan external, users put it on the body of the phone only when they were playing for a long time.

The concept from OnePlus shows that it can be done in a different way. The phone is thus cooled by liquid, the flow of which can be seen on the semi-transparent back cover. It resembles the pulsating veins in our body, except that the fluid inside the mobile device is blue in color.

The cooling is called Active CryoFlux, and according to the manufacturer’s tests, it manages to cool the phone by an average of 2.1 °C during gaming, thanks to which games run at a slightly higher frame rate. When charging, the temperature is lower by 1.6 °C.

Nokia unveiled three new phones in Barcelona – models G22, C32 and C22. All offer up to three days of battery life, improved cameras and high durability.

The most interesting, however, is the Nokia G22, which is also the first smartphone whose main benefit is simplified repairability, thanks to close cooperation with iFixit. Thanks to this, people can easily repair their smartphone at home in a few minutes.

In this way, you can simply replace, for example, a damaged display, a bent charging connector or a battery with a low condition. The individual parts are like a jigsaw puzzle, when they get damaged, you replace them with another one. And it probably goes without saying that it will be significantly cheaper at home than at a service center.

Prices and availability for all three novelties will be announced by the manufacturer at a later date.

Of course, there were also tablets at the exhibition center, the TCL company brought two. As the name itself suggests, the Nxtpaper 11 attracts an eleven-inch screen with a 2K resolution. In comparison between generations, the touch panel offers 150% higher brightness and therefore better legibility in the sun. The large battery with a capacity of 8000 mAh is also worthy of mention, thanks to which the tablet can work without an outlet for a long time.

The second tablet, called the Tab 11, immediately impresses with four integrated speakers and a thin design of only 6.9 mm. The weight of 462 g is also very pleasant, thanks to which it will not be a big burden on the road.

Both tablets from TCL should go on sale in May, the Nxtpaper 11 will cost CZK 5,999, the Tab 11 will be a thousandths cheaper.
