The Stralsund Museum wants to clarify the origin of museum objects with a research project. Almost 150 works of art could be Nazi-looted art. In a so-called first check of twelve museums in the state, the Museum Association of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania identified the most serious suspected cases in the Stralsund Museum. In the period between 1933 and 1945, books, works of art and valuable objects that could have come from foreclosures and confiscated Jewish property were added to the museum’s holdings. The suspected cases are to be clarified in a two-year research project. | 04.02.2021 14:45

The Jasmund National Park Office has warned against demolitions on the chalk coast on Rügen. Strollers should not be below the cliffs. Rain, snow and the current temperature changes have severely softened the soil, which is why a chalk slide or a major demolition is possible at any time. In several places on the coast it is already crumbling, said the head of the national park Ingolf Stodian. With a view to the upcoming winter holidays in the country, he warned against entering the beaches below the chalk coast. On the high bank, visitors should definitely stay on the paths and not go to the edge of the break. | 02/04/2021 11:56 AM
