Burghausen: April Fool’s Revenge ends with ad

The return carriage for an April Fool’s joke got a 25-year-old from Bavaria into trouble with the police. He had sent an acquaintance a deceptively real-looking fine for allegedly violating the Corona exit restrictions. The woman from the Upper Bavarian district of Altötting then filed a complaint with the police in Burghausen because she believed in a new scam, as a police spokesman said on Saturday. She had also shared the letter on social media, which made waves there.

According to the investigation, the woman and a friend had recently fooled the 25-year-old into an April Fool’s joke. The young man from the Lower Bavarian district of Rottal-Inn then issued the fake notice of fines as revenge, in which the 23-year-old was asked by a municipality to pay 35 euros. The man is now being investigated for attempted fraud and presumption of office. He had to hope for the gentleness of the judiciary, said the spokesman.

Erfurt: No accommodation because of Corona – man locks himself in the trunk

An 18-year-old accidentally locked himself in the trunk of his car on the way from Würzburg to Rostock. The driver had taken a break in Erfurt and went to bed in his trunk, as the Thuringian police announced on Saturday. However, the trunk lid of the Mercedes-Benz SLK closed and could not be opened from the inside, so the young man was trapped in his own vehicle.

He had to remain in the predicament for four hours – “maybe he slept a little,” said the police statement. Only in the morning around six o’clock was a pedestrian aware of the calls for help from the car. The woman informed the police who released the driver from his trunk. Since the vehicle was a sports car, the sleeping space was probably quite cramped. The man stated that he hadn’t found a place to stay because of the corona crisis and wanted to do it this way. According to the regulation for curbing the corona virus in Thuringia, hotels are currently not allowed to be opened to tourists. The action had no consequences for the young driver, said a police spokesman.
