News, E6 | E6 closed after traffic accident – confirms at least one dead

At 22.39 on Wednesday night, the emergency services report that they have moved out to the E6 at Olavsgård in connection with a serious traffic accident.

– The emergency services are on site in connection with a front-to-front accident. The road is completely closed in a southerly direction, the police write on Twitter.

Shortly afterwards, the police state that at least one person has been confirmed dead after the accident.

– The driver of the car has been confirmed dead. The driver of the lorry has been taken care of by health personnel and is considered unharmed, task leader Håkon Berg informs RB at the accident site.

Degraded by motorists

He further says that the police received a number of reports of a car in the wrong direction at 22.30.

– The car then drove north in the southbound direction and shortly after we received a message that the car had collided head-on with a lorry, says the task leader.

As of now, the police do not know where the car should have gone down on the highway.

The police are now working to notify relatives, but point out that they currently do not have a 100 percent secure ID of the deceased.

Secures tracks

The road will be closed overnight, the police say. For a long period, traffic was also stationary in the northbound direction due to clearing.

– The accident analysis group of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration has arrived to carry out its investigations. The road will therefore be closed for several hours in the future, says task leader Berg at 00.30-5iden.

– Detours will be signposted via national road 22 Kjellerholen, Vegtrafikksentralen informs on Twitter.

RB journalist Stine Christensen, who is on site, states at midnight that the road has been opened in the direction of Gardermoen, but in the southbound direction towards Oslo, the road is still blocked off.
