What Gamescom also offers
Gamescom 2024 is starting with impressive numbers and is clearly on course for success. With an increase of 10 percent more exhibitors compared to last year, coming from over 60 countries, and an exhibition area of 230,000 m², the internationality of the event will be further expanded. A total of 43 country pavilions from 33 countries will be represented, compared to 33 pavilions from 26 countries in 2023. Gamescom is well on its way to breaking new records, with new areas such as the Social Stage and the Cards & Boards Area also making their debut.
Tim Endres, Director of Gamescom, emphasizes the continuous growth and increasing international participation. This is also reflected in the increasing number of participants and the newly introduced areas that make the festival even more diverse. The Social Stage and the Artists Area as well as the newly added Cards & Boards Area contribute to a broader offering for different target groups.
Felix Falk, Managing Director of game – Association of the German Games Industry, highlights the increasing internationality of Gamescom. This is further strengthened by the satellite events Gamescom Asia and Gamescom Latam, meaning that Gamescom is now present on three continents. The fascination of the gaming world can now be experienced like never before.
The list of exhibitors has grown steadily in recent weeks and includes both well-known companies and new faces. The exhibitors already registered include big names in the industry such as 2K, Amazon Games, Blizzard, Capcom, Electronic Arts, Konami, Lego, Ubisoft, Xbox and many more. Big names from the board game and trading card game scene such as Hasbro Germany, Pegasus Spiele and Ravensburger Verlag are also represented in the Cards & Boards Area.
In addition to the large number of exhibitors, new areas are also being offered for the various communities. The Gamescom Congress is taking place for the first time in the newly opened Confex, which offers more space for exchange. The new Cards & Boards Area is aimed at board game and trading card game fans, while the Social Stage in Hall 11.3 offers a curated program with show acts, creators
and musical performances. The Cards & Boards Area is a central point of contact for the growing board game and trading card game community.
The global importance of Gamescom is not only reflected in the increasing number of exhibitors and country pavilions, but also in the further internationalization of the event through the satellite events. The exhibitors and partners come from over 60 countries, which underlines the global importance of Gamescom. Gamescom 2024 promises to once again be a highlight of the gaming industry and to offer an even more diverse platform for trade visitors and gaming enthusiasts from all over the world.
