Some 900,000 American children aged 5 to 11 have received their first dose of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine since the campaign for this age group was launched a week ago in the United States.

It’s about “a good start“, said Wednesday the coordinator of the fight against the pandemic at the White House, Jeff Zients, announcing these figures at a weekly press conference. He anticipated an acceleration of the rhythm of the injections in the weeks to come, the vaccination centers being gradually supplied with infant doses.

The United States has 28 million children between the ages of 5 and 11. About “700,000 additional appointments have already been made“in pharmacies,” Zients added.

The vaccination of this age group was launched last week in the wake of the authorization by the health authorities.
