News Cameroon :: OPEN LETTER TO PARLIAMENTARIANS OF THE REPUBLIC ON THE REFORM OF HIGHER EDUCATION :: Cameroon news

Dear compatriots, Honorable parliamentarians and representative of the people of Cameroon,

There is a saying that when the hour is serious, you have to say it, you have to get up and speak up, you have to stand on the side of truth and history, because tomorrow each of us will be judged for what what he had done or had not done.

I come here and now, nourished by patriotism and nationalism, steeped in positive citizenship, to awaken your conscience and draw your attention to the fate of higher education in our country. Indeed you are going to work on the reform of higher education, an ambitious and delicate project, a project which conditions our tomorrow and the aftermath of our universities, schools and advanced institutes.

I simply want to remind you that the cobbler is master of the forges at home, and that without him and without his opinion, there will be no light and no technical wealth. A first thing in this situation is to consult the teachers’ union, SYNES, which has shown over the years its lucidity and its ability to understand and guide our children. Please take their advice into consideration, like the request FOR THE CHOICE OF RECTORS BY AN ELECTION OF TEACHERS. We must also move on to university presidents, and blow up the useless, cumbersome and budget-consuming institution of PCA. Do it to move our country forward by bringing the management of our higher education into real modernity and certain efficiency. You cannot decide without consulting them, without probing them, without involving them intimately and effectively.

May the Lord guide your steps and may wisdom mark your actions.

High and fraternal regards./.
