”Defense Forces and Cameroonian People, in symbiosis for the safeguard of Peace and National Unity, the foundation of a strong and prosperous Cameroon”.
You have probably understood that this is the common thread of the celebrations of the Day of our Unitary State, Day returned to its 51st edition.
According to the dictionary of the French language, safeguard is a protection and a guarantee ensured by an Authority or an Institution. It goes without saying that safeguarding only benefits goods that are considered valuable. For the Cameroonians that we are, Peace and National Unity represent the best we have in common.
Objects of a permanent quest, Peace and National Unity have such a value in our eyes that we consider it preferable to preserve them from any desire for deconstruction, rather than having to rebuild them. A task that is not reserved only for the legal person of the State, although this entity is the agent of our common will.
As national ideals, Peace and National Unity deserve to the highest degree the attention of all. No need to insist on the fact that we are well placed to know it, the obscurantist, separatist and communitarian aims experienced in certain points of the country are responsible for reminding us every day of the losses, the sufferings and the distress suffered and endured by those who allow themselves to be tempted by the sirens of discord.
Furthermore, the agitation with a strong warmongering propensity that shakes the environment around us, could also represent a serious threat to our elements of serenity, when we measure not only the ease of diffusion, but also the capacity of nuisance of belligerent currents of thought. The latter also occupy the stands of the media platforms. On purpose perhaps? And if so, for what purpose?
Obviously, the answer to this questioning is far from being within the reach of the first draft of reflection. Notwithstanding, and even because of this complexity, each and every one of us should feel challenged and concerned by the noble mission of safeguarding our human and material, logical and ideological assets.
This will be the reason, on May 20, 2023, for the simultaneous questioning of the Defense Forces and the Cameroonian People, two closely linked entities, two matrix components of the sovereignty that we are entitled to exercise over Peace and National Unity, by building them relentlessly, by safeguarding them without weakness, in all circumstances, and even in the smallest gesture. The strength and prosperity of Cameroon are at this price. /-
