Head-high defeat at the PalaColombo for Power Basket Salerno who lost to the battleship Ruvo di Puglia 87-79. The match opens with the very high intensity of Salerno who immediately scores with Stanic and Kekovic from long range. Also thanks to a good start from Fall and the usual verve from Chaves, Power moves forward by placing the first break at +8. Ruvo, however, gets back on track by finding the equalizer and points from Markovic and Jackson, until taking the first lead of the match with a highly contested triple from Yankiel Moreno. From here, coach Farabello’s boys stop at 14, while Ruvo spreads with a run of 17-0. The first half of the game ends at 23 to 16 for the home team. In the second quarter Salerno tries to regain feeling with the basket. Favali comes off the bench scoring 9, while Stanic, for 12 consecutive minutes on the parquet, continues to inspire his team. Crifo Wines, however, does not lose clarity and, relying on the centimeters of the long Jacopo Borra and the triples of the lethal Moreno, the hosts secure another break at +13. Power only managed three points and at halftime the score was 45-35.
In the third period, Salerno reacts with an incisive 5-0 run, but Jackson proves irrepressible, scoring 8 points in just over a minute. Salerno, for its part, relies entirely on its captain, an absolute star among Coach Farabello’s yellow-blues. Thus, the gialloblù reach -3 but find themselves having to deal with Ruvo’s very high distance percentages. In the last twenty seconds Moreno takes another shot from beyond the arc but Cappelletti from his half of the pitch scores a triple at the siren which is worth -8. We go to the fourth quarter with the score 67 to 59. The buzzer beater of 70 galvanizes Salerno, above all Candotto, who at the beginning of the last period scores in transition and from distance, scoring 5 points. Ruvo, however, makes all the right choices and with a triple from Musso he gets back to +6 five minutes from the end. Back on the pitch, the Campania team were unable to worry the hosts who, with three minutes to go, were once again at +10, with the complicity of Moreno who put in a monstrous performance, achieving whatever came his way. Salerno tries everything but Ruvo manages and takes home the match which ends at 87 to 79.

It’s a result that depends on us and that’s why we have to work, even more intensely on the mental side of the match. We got into difficulty when the intensity on our part dropped. The rest of the match was balanced, we found ourselves at -3 several times, we lacked a bit of determination to get ahead head to the next one, at the PalaSilvestri, in front of all our fans who we want to see in large numbers after two away games.” Nicola Mei, on his birthday, added: “I thank all those who wished me well today even though I would have liked to celebrate by giving a victory to the many fans who came from Salerno.
