Turkish news anchor Meltem Günay was fired on Sunday 24 December after bringing a clearly visible Starbucks cup with him on air.

Günay worked as a news anchor at the Turkish, pro-Erdogan television channel TGRT. Several viewers are said to have reacted to the Starbucks cup standing in front of the news anchor on last Sunday’s broadcast.
Many consider Starbucks to be pro-Israel, and the coffee cup was thus perceived as a political stance from Günay.
