New York leads 3-2 in the series.
Facing elimination, the Capitals were able to count on star striker Alexander Ovechkin. The Russian offered himself a brace allowing his team to win against the Islanders.
Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Mathew Barzel gave the Islanders two lengths before Evgeny Kuznetsov reduced the score. Ovechkin then took care of the rest to give his family more hope.
