The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health has announced the successful first routine heart transplant operation for a 60-year-old Kuwaiti citizen who was suffering from advanced heart failure and had not responded to treatment.
The operation was performed by a Kuwaiti-Saudi medical team, led by Dr. Khaldoun Al-Hamoud and Dr. Riyad Al-Tarzi, and a heart surgeon and heart transplant consultant at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in the Kingdom, the Dr Firas Khalil.
This operation is the second in the country and the first for a Kuwaiti national, while the Kuwaiti Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi, appreciated the continued medical collaboration with the Kingdom.
