News 24 | The transport authority allows small cars to operate in passenger applications until the end of next year

The Public Transport Authority announced today (Sunday) that small cars with distance between their axles between (2.60m) and (2.70m) can operate in passenger applications, subject to provided that their operational life does not exceed 5 years from the year of manufacture, and that until the end of 2023.

The authority also announced the extension of the authorization period for cars whose axle distance exceeds (2.70m) and whose operating life does not exceed 7 years from the year of manufacture, to work in the business of passenger applications, until the end of calendar year 2023, provided that licensed companies add a classification specifically for small cars, clarifying the maximum number of passengers in the vehicle and the commitment not to allow such vehicles to operate at airports and between cities.

He explained that this aims to provide more transport options for the beneficiaries, improve service availability and ensure speed of response, as well as support drivers working in passenger transport applications in the Kingdom.
