News 24 | Starting today… Kuwait imposes tariffs for the distribution of medicines to expatriates

Today (Sunday), the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health imposed new taxes on expats related to health services provided to patients in clinics, hospital emergencies and outpatient clinics.

And Kuwaiti Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi issued a ministerial decision imposing taxes on the dispensing of medicines by non-Kuwaiti patients registered in the health insurance system, as part of efforts to improve health services, stop the waste of medicines and control their disbursement.

The decision specified the fees to be paid in case of dispensing of medicines from a pharmacy in a primary health care center (dispensary) for a value of 5 dinars, and in case of dispensing from a hospital emergency room pharmacy for of 5 dinars, and a value of 10 dinars when dispensing medicines from an outpatient pharmacy.

The decision indicated that the new fees are in addition to health consultation fees, which are set at a value of two dinars when visiting the clinic of primary health care centers (dispensaries) and 10 dinars when examining hospital accidents or outpatient clinics.
